TORONTO — A request for proposals (RFP) has been released to three prequalified teams to design, build and finance nine new detachments for phase two of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) modernization project.
Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services (MCSCS) released the RFP and the teams were selected following a request for qualifications process that began in January 2017.
According to IO, the following teams were shortlisted based on their design and construction experience as well as the financial capacity to deliver a project of this scope and complexity:
- Bird Capital Limited Partnership;
- DBF Pomerleau Team; and
- EllisDon Infrastructure Justice.
Once RFP submissions are received, IO and MCSCS will evaluate the proposals, select a preferred bidder and then negotiate a final contract, adds a release issued by IO.
A successful bidder is expected to be announced in mid-2018.
The project includes the development of new OPP detachments to replace buildings at the end of their useful lifespan. The new detachments will be located in Huron County, Port Credit, Hawkesbury, Manitoulin Island, Marathon, Parry Sound, Fort Frances, Moosonee and Orillia.
IO and MCSCS are working together to deliver the new facilities, which will remain publicly owned.
