Mattamy Homes, North America's largest privately owned home builder, is partnering with home automation company ecobee to create smart homes of the future.
Starting this year, all Mattamy homes in North America will be equipped with the voice-enabled ecobee4 smart WiFi thermostat. The ecobee4 comes with room sensors and with the built-in Amazon Alexa Voice Service, which allows homeowners to control the thermostat by voice.
It is estimated that Mattamy builds 7,000 homes across North America every year, and according to the company, it is also the largest home builder in Canada. In the future, Mattamy intends to work with ecobee to further advance the smart home space including the enhanced use of data.

The partnership will enable Mattamy to build homes and communities that are compatible with smart grids. Further, new smart features will allow homeowners to optimize the energy performance of their houses using smart devices and voice-activated platforms such as Amazon's Alexa.

The technology will allow homeowners to remotely optimize their HVAC schedules and save on utility bills, without comprising comfort in their home.
